Make the inside of the pack work harder

Paperboard inserts and dividers can organize a set, present a product at the right height, separate components, and help limit movement. They work best when designed alongside the outer pack and the packing process.

A good fit for

  • Multi-item sets that need clear separation
  • Bottles, jars, tubes, accessories, and components needing a paper cradle
  • Cartons or tubes that need a raised presentation platform
  • Packs seeking a paper-based alternative to a non-paper insert, subject to performance review

Not the right assumption when

  • The item needs cushioning or impact protection that folded paperboard cannot provide
  • Exact retention is requested without a physical product or accurate technical dimensions
  • The insert will be treated as the shipping protection without packed-product testing
Structure development

Possible directions include folded platforms, partitions, interlocking grids, product cradles, and die-cut retention tabs. Selection depends on product geometry, weight distribution, pack orientation, assembly time, and how the customer should remove the item.

The insert may be plain, printed, laminated, or coordinated with the outer carton where suitable. Print and finish choices are confirmed only after folds, cut edges, locking areas, and glue zones are understood.

Design it with the outer packaging

Developing the insert and carton together helps control clearances and opening presentation. Inserts can also be paired with sleeves, product cards, paper tubes, or clear windows as part of a coordinated set.

What to send for a quote

Share the product itself where possible, plus dimensions, weight, photos, orientation, outer-pack dimensions, assembly method, quantity, destination, and expected handling. Final approval should be based on a packed sample rather than a dieline alone.
